Start with a vehicle that can handle several terrain types and learn the basic camera, throttle, brake, steering, differential, and four-wheel-drive controls. Use low gear or controlled throttle on steep and technical sections instead of holding maximum acceleration. Approach rocks and ledges at an angle that keeps multiple tires in contact.

Watch wheel placement and reduce tire pressure when additional grip is useful. If the vehicle becomes centered on an obstacle, reverse and choose a new line rather than spinning the tires indefinitely. Tune one setting at a time.

Adjust ride height and suspension travel for clearance, damping and stiffness for stability, and gearing for either crawling torque or higher speed. Test every change on the same obstacle so its effect is measurable. Use the winch when traction and repositioning are not enough.
