Super Mario Run adapts familiar platforming to one-handed play without reducing every course to a simple reaction test. Its automatic movement is initially restrictive, but coin routes, character abilities, and competitive runs add meaningful precision.

Super Mario Run asks what remains of Mario when forward movement is automatic. The answer is a platform game centered on jump timing, route selection, and replaying compact courses. Mario vaults over minor obstacles by himself, while taps control jump height and aerial actions.

That removes one input but makes every ledge, enemy, pause block, and wall jump part of a carefully timed sequence. Completing a course is usually straightforward. Collecting all colored challenge coins is where the design becomes demanding, since later sets occupy riskier routes and require more deliberate use of bubbles, blocks, and enemy bounces.

Different characters alter movement enough to make some routes easier or encourage a fresh approach. World Tour provides the traditional stages, Toad Rally turns movement into a score performance against another player's recorded run, and kingdom building supplies a lighter progression layer. Remix 10 breaks play into very short course fragments.

The requirement for an internet connection remains inconvenient, and access to the complete course set requires a purchase after the introductory content. Even so, this is a thoughtful mobile interpretation rather than a disposable endless runner. It rewards players who revisit stages to refine a line instead of merely reaching the flag once.

Mario runs forward automatically. Tap once for a jump and hold slightly longer to gain more height. Tap again during certain aerial states or use character-specific abilities to extend movement.

Mario automatically vaults over small enemies and low obstacles, but larger threats, pits, and poor landings still cause failure. Use pause blocks to study the next section before moving. Directional blocks, wall jumps, enemy bounces, and special blocks change the normal flow, so watch their arrows and timing.

A bubble carries the character backward through the stage after a mistake and can also be activated strategically when a challenge coin was missed. Finish World Tour stages to unlock modes, resources, and characters. In Toad Rally, collect coins and perform varied jumps to impress Toads rather than following only the safest path.

For colored-coin challenges, learn one difficult section at a time and avoid spending every bubble early. Each character has different movement qualities, such as higher jumps, floating, or faster running, so choose one that suits the route instead of treating the roster as cosmetic.
